During the II International Forum "SEYMARTEC MILK", Director of the company Streda Consulting Alexey Gruzdev said that in 2021, the second stage of transformation of the domestic market is taking place, writes The DairyNews.

According to the expert, the first stage was held in 2018. Then the industry faced a sharp change in the prices of dairy products. Alexey Gruzdev noted that in 2019-2020, the indicators were slightly increased. In his opinion, this year they will also grow, but it is not known yet by how much.

The expert added that the main factors affecting the cost of the final product are the devaluation of the ruble and the rise in price of the components of production. Alexey Gruzdev noted that at the moment the gap between the growth of the product price and the growth of the cost price is 15%. According to him, the real indicators of the income of population are at the level of 2010.

Alexey Gruzdev added that the increase in the consumption of dairy products is greatly influenced by the growth in demand for cheese. The expert noted that the second important factor is import, as Belarusian producers are a serious competitor to Russian ones.

‘The volume of deliveries of Belarusian milk powder to Russia has significantly decreased, but increased to China. At the same time, Belarusians will continue to supply us with cheese in considerable quantities. For example, in 2020, they increased the export of this segment by 20 thousand tons,’ said Alexey Gruzdev.

According to him, Russian exports of dairy products are mainly directed to the CIS countries, among which Belarus remains a significant exporter. The expert also noted that in the next 2-3 years, Ukraine will also be a serious competitor for domestic milk processors.
