Dairy industry became the second largest investment activity in the agro-industrial complex in 2020 – Rosselkhozbank
The largest contribution to milk production in Russia is made by the Volga region, namely Tatarstan (1.9 million tons) and Bashkortostan (1.7 million tons). They are followed by Krasnodar region (1.5 million tons), the Altai region (1.2 million tons) and Rostov region (1.1 million tons). The fastest growth rate of production was recorded in Sakhalin region – 16%.
‘A significant share of projects in this industry last year was associated with the investments of large producers in the segment of milk processing and the creation of vertically integrated full-cycle complexes on their basis. This trend will be most characteristic for a number of regions of Central Russia and the West Siberian region, where, according to our forecasts, the processing capacity has the potential to grow by about 600 thousand tons by the end of 2021. At the same time, the industry has a significant potential for import substitution, which, according to our estimates, is 3 million tons in milk equivalent,’ said Andrey Dalnov, Head of the Center for Industry Expertise of Rosselkhozbank.
The Center for Industry Expertise predicts that dairy products will become the main driver of animal protein consumption in the coming years.
