Torsten Hemme: dairy market is operated by demand and supply
According to his words, there exists a three year cycle of prices ups and downs. It is related to the fact, that the supply doesn’t follow market signals at once. When prices start falling farmers are not ready to decrease raw milk prices immediately. If the price doesn’t grow farmers decrease production. That is why this process lasts for three years, explained the speaker.
Milk prices for raw milk in Russia and in the world are very close, global prices influence Russian milk market, added Mr. Hemme showing a graph. “If you want to understand how much will the milk cost in Russia in the nearest months just look at global prices graph”, - underlined IFCN Director. According to his forecasts, milk prices in Russia will grow.
