Regionalization implies the localization of the hotbed of the disease and gives the region where it is originated from, a special status until the problem is solved.
Russia in May 2016 received a status of a country free from FMD. This status is awarded by the International epizootic Bureau (IEB). The status facilitates the entry into new export markets of meat products.
However, late in October, an outbreak of FMD occurred in Vladimir region, and at the end of November - in Transbaikalia. The Deputy Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Yevgeny Nepoklonov will visit Transbaikalia next week.
