Nielsen: only every fifth mentions forced reduction of consumption of dairy products

"In real terms the consumption of dairy products is not falling at least (the study didn’t include cheeses). Only every fifth respondent says that is forced to consume less of the traditional dairy products" - led the data analysis Saltanat Nysanova, head of strategic partnerships direction, Nielsen Russia.
Today, every second Russian mentions falling revenues during the last 3 months. 8 out of 10 Russians said that they switched to rigid economy; in connection with this the popularity of discounters is growing.

"However, most of the dairy products belong to the category, the reduction of which consumers are not yet ready to accept," said Saltanat Nysanova.

According to Nielsen, only every fifth says that is forced to consume less of the traditional dairy products.

"The consumption of glazed curds, cottage cheese and clabber is growing. The one of dairy desserts is falling down. Among dairy products, 27% of consumers choose cheaper brands than 3 months ago. Including own trade mark networks," - said the representative of the analytical agency.

Another interesting trend, according to experts, is increasing of a number of packages of milk with a volume of more than 1 liter on the shelves.

"The main driver of this trend in Russia is PepsiCo. Another trend is hunting for promo. Every third deliberately looking for a promo product," concluded Ms. Nysanova.
